This is my cousin. Isn't she beautiful?? She was the closest thing I had to a sister growing up. She was 10 years younger than me a just started her second year at a local university. Overwhelmed by her course load and other commitments, she decided to take the edge off as recommended by a friend. It was suppose to be harmless but she didn't survive. That was yesterday, today we are planning her funeral.
I know that I am guilty of taking on too much. Of stressing about overwhelming commitments and a never ending to do list. Today I keep thinking of all the things that I should be doing but I just can't stop thinking about her. So I decided to share - nothing is worth risking your own life and happiness over. Not even a degree.

I am so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

ReplyDeleteI was finally catching up my blogs when I read your post. I am so sorry for your loss...what a beautiful girl. I read your blog all the time, so I guess I feel like I know you in some way and I feel the need to share this story with. Even when our loved ones are gone, they visit us in different ways. Last Labor Day weekend, I lost my first fiancé's brother. My first fiancé passed away a few years ago from Cancer...for his mom, his brother was all she had left besides me. She is like a second mom for me. It has been a really rough year for her and she decided to take a cross country road trip instead of sitting at home this holiday weekend. So she packed up her cat and started to drive across the country a few weeks ago visiting family and friends. While visiting a friend, the cat got loose and they were unable to find it. So she continued on her journey and I got to spend a few wonderful days with her before she went on to visit with family in New Mexico. She looked good, but I worried about what the loss of her cat would affect her. DC had been with her a long time. When I went to check my phone this morning I got a wonderful message that she had the cat. On Friday, someone called and left a message that they had seen it outside an abandoned house. So she hopped in the car and drove straight back to her friend's house across several states. It turned out to be the cat and when I talked to her today, everything seemed so much better. I believe that her sons guided the people who found the cat and watched over her as she drove across the country. There have been a few instances like this where I can't help but feel they are watching over us, so I am sending the same blessing for you and your family. While their loss might have seem to come to soon, their love and impact will always be a big part of your life. Sending you some hugs!
