Who wants a Brownie Point?

When designing my dream classroom, I am looking for things that are adorable and functional. It has to meet both standards or it doesn't happen. It also has to match the theme of the room. I made a slight adjustment to the rules for this idea but I so love it!

Here is the Pinterest inspiration for my board:

And here is my actual board:

This is used to reward good class behavior. I love it so much that I actually have it hanging on my refrigerator right this very moment and am using it with my boys. It never occurred to me that the pan was magnetic!

You can also paint them any color you choose so that it can match your classroom. Another version I saw was titled "Sweet Rewards" and the pan was pink. It is similar to this one from One Extra Degree:

Here is another idea that I really like using a pan:

This is from Dandelions and Dragonflies. She spray painted pizza pans black and then is using it for center rotations. Isn't it great? The kids can then just move their name from pan to pan.

Here is the brownie I used for my board:

Doesn't it look yummy? I have a dozen brownies for my board. My students earn a brownie for each day everyone on the class has had good behavior. Once the pan is full, the students earn an extra 15 minutes of recess on Friday or a Popsicle Party or a Movie or something fun. I created a couple extra brownies just in case....

Some tips for this project:
~ Laminate all the brownies then put on the magnet strips
~ A package of 18 magnet strips can be found at Wal-mart for $1. They are adhesive on the back so no extra glue is needed for the brownie part
~ Gorilla glue is necessary if you want to hang it on your frig or white board. It is the only way to guarantee the magnets will stay on the pan. Also works great on the laminated title.

YOUR SHOPPING LIST:
~ Cookie Sheet
~ Laminating sheets or clear contact paper
~ Magnet Strips
~ Gorilla Glue

  1. This is a fantastic idea!! I wish I had this when my school was doing our "cooking up success" theme last year.

I LOVE the pan station rotation idea! And I LOVE your shopping list. I was trying to figure out how the pans were affixed to the wall. Now, I know!

Great blog and keep it up! I'll be back! (Eat your heart out, Ahh-nold!)

    1. You can use magnets on the back to hang it on the board or a file cabinet. You can also use the gorilla glue to add a ribbon and hang it from a nail or hook on the wall but that maybe a little too girly for you. =P My husband says you can also gorilla glue a hanging bracket on the back and then just hang it on the wall as normal.

  3. Very cute idea! I have tried several positive behavior systems with my class. The problem I find most is that I just don't keep up with it. I think something like this might be visual enough for me and the kids to keep my mind on it during a very busy day.

    1. Have you tried creating a class job to keep up with this? I would have one person in charge of adding the treat to the board. This student could be your reminder. If you give them a compliment on how well the entire class is doing, you could ask the student to add a brownie or if you forget, the student can ask you if it is brownie worthy. =) I have my "trouble maker" on brownie patrol. It is a constant reminder that they can and do make a difference.

  4. I love the idea of using cookie pans! I was inspired by a picture I saw on pinterest a while ago and actually bought and painted 3 pans, however still haven't figured out exactly how I wanted to use them! This is definitely a good motivation to finish them up so I can use them in my room! Thanks! :)
